Set Up / Opening
Volunteers are scheduled to arrive at 9am to arrange the main areas of the Resource Center before the arrival of guests. Primary duties involve preparing the facility and organizing the necessary supplies for the day.
Check-in
The check-in volunteers play a pivotal role in shaping the initial experience for Resource Center guests. Positioned near the front door, they warmly welcome guests, go over guidelines, address any special requirements, and oversee the check-in and check-out procedures for all visitors.
Kitchen
Kitchen volunteers are stationed inside the kitchen and help with meal prep and snack service. Meals are served all days of the week.
Meal Providers
The flavorful and nutritious meals provided at our center are crucial for our homeless guests. Whether you can contribute food or funds, we offer a continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner all days of the week. We typically cater to 60 guests a day.
Closing
Closing and clean-up volunteers arrive as guests depart for the day. They wash floors, sanitize furniture, clean bathrooms, remove garbage and prepare linens for laundry. They also help secure the building.
Sorting
Clothing sorting & restocking volunteers are needed during non-guest hours to organize clothing on hand, assess recently received donations, and replenish stock for guests. This role offers the most flexible hours for volunteers.
Shower Monitor
Showers are scheduled for guests on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 AM - 3 PM with volunteer help needed beginning at 9am. Shower monitors assist with the sign-in process, distribute towels and hygiene items, and participate in cleaning between each guest.

We have many other ways you can help during the off hours, either in the facility, somewhere in the community, or from the comfort of your home.

Our volunteers make the most significant impact between 9 am and 2 pm every day of the week. You will be working directly with individuals experiencing houselessness.

If you need time adjusting to working with unhoused individuals, our opening shift (before guests arrive) and closing shift (after they leave) are perfect starting points. Whatever your preference and availability, our volunteers are appreciated and essential!

Most shifts are two hours or less in duration and you can choose between weekly, every other week, monthly, or on call.

Volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older and able to provide their own transportation to the Access Center located at 12264 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, OR.
